The Clergy

Priest In Charge: Moira Slack

What shall I tell you about me? What am I passionate about? Music, people, nature, arts and crafts, travel – and the God who leads me though each day. Having been closely involved with children with varying special and additional needs, I am greatly concerned that every person, whatever their circumstance, should be enabled and encouraged to reach their own full potential. I am greatly concerned for the sound conservation and stewardship of the fabulous planet which we inhabit and do my best for recycling and energy conservation. And I take great pride in my family.

My husband is an HR manager with an insurance company; he and I have been blessed by walking the Christian journey together since adolescence. Our children are now adults living independent lives with their respective partners, but remain immensely important parts of our life. Our daughter designs web-sites for a living, is passionate about cycling and devotes much time and energy to participating in gruelling Triathlon events. Our son is an aeronautical engineer in Bristol; he too has caught the cycling bug and, being mechanically minded, has built his own bike from spare parts. Last but not least is Shadow, our senior and soporific black cat.

Ordained Local Minister: Helen Tomlinson

I was ordained in 2007. I have three children, Neil, Emma and Mark, the youngest of which (Mark) is still living at home. My eldest son Neil has recently married Fay and they both live in Eastleigh where he works as a computer programme designer. They share hobbies of walking, ballroom dancing, music (Fay is a talented flautist and plays in an orchestra), and growing their own vegetables whilst Emma and her partner James both enjoy surfing and motorcycling activities. Mark is a keen footballer and plays for a local team each week, whilst his girlfriend Kelly plays for a local netball team. Both my younger children work for Royal Mail (I should have shares!). I also have a ginger cat called Mindy.

At the moment I work full-time as a medical secretary to a consultant in Salford NHS Trust; before this I  worked in numerous places, some of which include the Police, a health club, an estate agents, a Jacobean banquet and a kitchen showroom and then a stint as a teacher in Salford High Schools before eventually answering God’s call to ordained ministry. I love working in God’s church and the opportunities being a priest gives me to share my faith with people from all walks of life.

My hobbies include walking, reading and trying to write poetry, music, singing and playing the guitar; I enjoy socialising with friends at our local over a couple of halves of Guinness and blackcurrant whenever I get the chance (which at the moment is quite rare. One of my resolutions, if any, would be to do something about that!)
